Hello, friends!
Right now, I’m sitting in an airport.
Yep. Los Angeles International Airport.
My flight to London leaves in an hour, and boarding starts in thirty minutes, so I’d better make this snappy!
I wanted to post something just before I leave to give a quick “hullo” and update and also to post some content (because it’s been a while since my Downton Abbey post).
I’m going to be writing about this trip and taking tons of pictures, so be sure to follow me on Instagram (@miss.baggins2002) and…
I’M ON TWITTER!
I just got on Twitter, and I have only three (lovely) followers, so please go give me a follow on there. I’m trying to get the little Twitter sidebar widget on this blog to work, but it shut down for some reason. I’m going to try to get that back up.
My new Twitter handle is @missbaggins2002. Same as my Instagram, just no dot in between miss and baggins.
Haha.
Anyways, I was nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award by Amelie @Shield Maiden of the King!
I was super excited, because I’ve never actually been nominated for a blogger award, so this was super fun for me.
Here are the rules:
Below are the rules for this award:
- Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link back to their blog so others can find them. Amelie nominated me for this tag, so, “dankeschön, Amelie!”
- List the rules and display an award logo on your blog post. (featured image)
- Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
- Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and notify them by commenting on any of their posts.
- Ask the nominees 11 new questions.
Okay, so here are Amelie’s questions. Hope I do this well!
1 – What is the next book on your TBR list, and how many pages is it?
My next book is The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. I have started reading it, but I never finished it. I can honestly say that it’s bone-chilling, immensely symbolic, and a haunting story. It’s one that I need to finish. It’s two-hundred seventy-two pages. 🙂
2 – Do you play any instruments? If so, which?
I play the piano. I have been playing the piano since I was six, and while I’m not taking lessons anymore, I am advanced enough to play Chopin, Mozart, and (my love) Beethoven. Music will always be apart of me, and I’m so grateful that I play the piano.
3 – What’s your favourite TV show?
Drumroll, please.
*queues drumroll*
BBC’s Sherlock. No bones about it. It’s my favorite show on television. The story is so good, I love the characters, the filmography and score is incredible, and I love all things British. And then there’s Benedict Cumberbatch…because…just…yes???
So yes, BBC Sherlock is my favorite.
4 – What is a quote from a book that you love?
Oh, Moses. There’s a lot.
I really enjoy the following:
“The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.”
– Sherlock Holmes
“Reader, I married him.”
– Jane Eyre
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.”
– Albus Dumbledore
“ll we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
– Gandalf the Grey
Okay, done now 🙂
#5 – In what environment do you feel most creative?
One in which it is raining, I have a window next to me, classical music in my ears, a cup of tea in my hands, and a blank piece of paper for writing in front of me. Ahhhhhhhhh.
6 – What was the last movie you watched?
The Imitation Game with Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley. It was really good. And really sad. I’ve actually got a post in the works where I discuss what made me love it. It sent a lot of messages that just made me stop and think. It was one of those movies that tears your heart out and leaves you a philosophical mess.
To be honest, I love those kind. 😉
7 – Do you like bacon?
Is the Pope Catholic? Yes, I really love bacon.
8 – Do you have a phone?
Yes, I do. I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+. The case is super tacky and I pick at it when I’m bored. 😉
9 – Do you blog on a computer, phone, or other device?
I just bought myself a MacBook Pro, and it’s my little writing baby. I’ve never owned a computer I love so much, and I do all my writing on that. It’s a dream.
10 – Do you like thunderstorms?
I LOVE THEM! I used to live in Colorado, and every summer day there was also an Armageddon monsoon with crazy thunder and lightning. It was also so fun. Thunderstorms make me feel small, and I’ve always loved that. They make me come closer to understanding the BIG-ness of God and the LITTLE-ness of me.
11 – You get to pick the family vacation destination. Where do you choose?
Europe. Definitely Europe. Speaking of which, I’m about to get on the plane! I’d better scurry. I thought this would be a fun post to do just before departure. I’m planning on posting something at the end of this week or the middle of next week when I’m bursting with contagious London enthusiasm.
I don’t know 11 bloggers, so I’ll nominate:
- Eva at Coffee, Classics, and Craziness
- Ivy Miranda at Revealed in Time
- Amaris at Storybook Journal
- Maribeth at Trekking Through Hobbit Holes
- Kate at I am Charles Baker Harris (and I can read).
Here are my eleven questions:
- In what city were you born?
- Which book made you a bibliophile?
- What is your favorite film?
- What is your favorite Bible verse?
- Favorite episode of Sherlock? (I know you have all seen it)
- First foreign country?
- Favorite food?
- British accents or Scottish accents?
- First Marvel film?
- Who is your favorite British actor/actress?
- When did you start blogging, and why?
Expect great things to come!
Talk to you all soon! 🙂
Auf Wiedersehen,
Emily 🙂
Really interesting answers! Nice to meet you 🙂
Thank you, nice to meet you as well! Thanks for the follow 😉
Your blog is very interesting and it’s great to follow 🙂
I loved this, Emily!! So glad that you were excited to do this! 🙂
I read The Scarlet Letter for school last year, and I agree -it is chilling, haunting, and symbolic.
I play piano, too!
I’ve never seen Sherlock, but I’ve heard great things about it. 🙂
I know-I love tons of book quotes, too. 😉 I love all of the ones that you picked! I’d never heard any of them, except for Gandalf’s. Wonderful, indeed!
That sounds like a wonderful, cozy creative environment.
Can’t wait to see your post on The Imitation Game!!
Ooh, I love Macs. I do my writing on a MacBook Air, but I LOVE Pros.
I love thunderstorms, too. We don’t get a ton of them where I live, but when we do, I enjoy them a lot. 🙂
I want to go to Europe so badly someday! Both of my parents have been, and a team from my church went there for a missions trip this summer. 🙂
I hope your time in London is absolutely amazing!! Loved your post, and I can’t wait to see the writings to come!
Thanks for reading and for your sweet comment, Amelie! I’m so glad you enjoyed my answers! I hope to write about The Scarlet Letter when I finish it; hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy that one as well! London is going great so far – we were at Kensington Palace today, which was amazing! I posted lots on my Instagram story hahaha. Thanks so much for your interest in my blog! I’ve loved having you. Have a great summer! Talk to you soon 🙂
Cheers,
Emily 🙂
P.S. NO BBC SHERLOCK YET? Oh, my poor child. You must. Must. Must. 😉
Totally doing this! Your questions are so fun. ❤
Danke!!
AT LAST, after a week of getting ready for a small but annoying hurricane, I am getting around to commenting! Thank you so much for tagging me in this. Your questions are amazing and I can’t wait to answer them! 😀
Oh my goodness! A hurricane? Are you doing alright? Your welcome for the tag! Have fun doing it! 🙂
Oh yes, we’re fine! We just prepared for the worst and hoped for the best–and sure enough, we got the best! It was mostly rainy and windy, but it didn’t rain nearly as hard as the meteorologists had feared 🙂
I loved this Emily!!
SHERLOCK!!! *dies a little* There are no words for how much a I love that show!!! And Benedict! 😉
Honestly, your creative environment sounds exactly like mine! Rain and classical music and tea for the win! 🙂
Thunderstorms are amazing! Love them so much! 😀
Ooh have fun in London!!
~ Bella
Greetings, Bella! Thank you so much for your sweet comment. It really made me smile. Also meant to tell you thanks for the follow! I hope you enjoy my posts!
And yes. Sherlock! Speaking of, my family and I went through Belgravia yesterday and actually saw the flat where they filmed Irene Adler’s residence. I died, I can tell you that!
Classical music is my favorite, too! I love it so much more than mainstream, and my friends think I’m ridiculous for listening to it. Who cares, though, right?
I shall have fun in London! It’s already been incredible – I’m working on something to post in a few days, so I hope you enjoy that as well!
Thanks for nominating me!
The Scarlet Letter is such a good book! It’s one of my favorites!
I love Sherlock! As you can tell on my site, I’m reviewing the whole series. It’s just sooo good!
Yes, I could definitely tell you love Sherlock! Have you seen the whole series and just reviewing them, or are you discovering these gems for the first time? Have fun with the tag!
Cheers,
Emily 🙂
I’ve followed the series since season 1! So I was a part of the huge Sherlock mania. So much fun!
That is awesome! I hadn’t heard about it (shocking, I know) until last year, so that’s when I started watching it. LOL, I felt horrible for jumping on so late, but I’ll always and forever be a fan of this glorious stuff. Gotta love Benadryl Cabbagepatch…
