“God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars.”
Martin Luther
Hallo, freunde.
Welcome to my blog. It is very nice to see you. *tips hat*
I’m Emily. I’m a twenty-year-old graduate student wasting away over English Literature in the rainy, woody Pacific Northwest of America. I’m a writer, professional reader, aspiring theologian, and a devoted servant of Jesu Christi.
I’m usually a wee bit different in a crowd of chaps, due to my obsessive love of Christian theology, literature, a plethora of very obscure philosophical notions, the ever complicated German language, and the odd pot of sumptuous Earl Grey tea with a couple of Lotus biscoff cookies. I go heavy on the classics, with an emphasis on Victorian Gothic, Realism, and 19th century existentialism. Dostoevsky and Nietzsche are the ghosts who haunt my writing desk, Charlotte Brontë comes to tea on rainy days, and Tolkien walks with me to linguistics classes. I have compulsive tendencies to pretentiously quote Oscar Wilde, yell insults in Thespian, and scream in Dostoevsky.
British television is my weakness, The Legend of Zelda is my guilty pleasure, and I’m often found wearing turtlenecks and slacks to class for the Aesthetic™.
Oh, and I’m also a Mexicana who will likely fight you for that last tamale (no, I’m afraid I will not negotiate). Conchas y café con mi literatura latina por favor.
Please do leave a comment and introduce yourself. I always love getting to know the new friends who pop in to say hello. You will make my day if you do. *blows kiss and offers hug*
Bis später!

Hello : ) I found your site looking for pictures for a review for The Hollow Crown. You have a lovely blog!
Thank you very much! The Hollow Crown is most certainly a cinematic marvel and one of my favorite shows. I’m glad my blog was of use for your review! 😊
Hey Emily! Just found your blog on the internet when I was looking for reviews on the Oxford Summer Experience! Oh Merlin, you really highlighted my day! I’m Tas, and I am a fanatical reader and aspiring author. I’m in the middle of writing my very own fantasy, coming-of-ag e series and your blog really made me happy to know there are people who share my same passion out there! Among my favorite books are Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings 🙂 I really, really want to go to the Oxford thing so your post really inspired me.
Also, I am a fellow sister in Christ 🙂
Grace and peace to you,
Tas
P.s, (Do you use NaNoWriMo? If so, my username is DarkPotter7, if you want to friend me 🙂
Hello, Tas!
All exhortations to you as a sister in Christ! It’s lovely to hear from you. I’m delighted that my Oxford post was an encouragement, and I dearly, dearly hope you’ll attend in the summer. I still hold the memories and friends from that program so close to my heart, and I’m sure you’d meet a world of adventures there. If you have any questions specifically, do feel free to email me any inquiries about the program, and I’d be happy to get in touch. Also, it’s fantastic to hear that there are other young writers and story lovers like you out there. Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter are excellent choices in favorite books, if I do say so myself. I am unfortunately not on NaNoWriMo this year (grad school has been a headache), but I shall add you for future escapades. 😉
Lovely to meet you, and I do hope you enjoy the blog!
